Headed Out

I head out for Europe tomorrow for a three and a half week trip, before returning to get married in early August. Hopefully I'll have time over in Europe to get some photos and tales of travels up here in this blog.

Here's a couple of photos in the meantime for y'all to enjoy. One is of a cucumber from my garden (which, along with my betrothed and my dog, I will miss dreadfully). The other is a picture of the prime position of Sal, the ceramic head (that I made) and its prime placement in the home of my old friends the Weinsteins.

Finally, before I head out -- If you're in Asheville or the surrounding area, make sure to stop by the Clingman Cafe and check out July's art show ("Summer Clay"), which features art by Beth Flanagan, Joey Sheehan, Joy Tanner, Will Baker, and me. Alternatively, if you see anything on the blog that you enjoy, contact me to make a purchase.

A Tale of a Lost Blog

Alas, life has come and taken me away from the computer world for some time, and it seems that I continue to fail to update the blog. On occasion I think of retiring it completely, though I still have much to share and enjoy this place as a forum to do so.

So, I will keep Pancho's Via alive for the meantime and try to at the very least use this as a space to exhibit my current artwork and music.

Thanks for checking in, and have a great day.

Going North

Things have been crazy around here, as I prepare to head north with Beth and Lupe for the upcoming wedding shower. Beth and I have been making a ton of ceramic wares for the shower, we've been working on a HUGE garden, we've been moving my stuff into the new place and painting it at the same time....

It has been non-stop.

Which, I've realized, is much better than slow and boring, though when things get so busy I wish for a bit of slow and boring and when things were slow and boring I wished for nothing but a little bit of excitement.

I've got pictures of all kinds to share, and I hope that while I'm away I'll have time to share them.

More soon.

Photos

Here are some photos of recent life, including:

Beth throwing a HUGE pot (using 25 pounds of clay), hanging out with my brother PJ during his recent (very quick) visit to town (as the merch guy for musician Butch Walker), me at the studio, and some recent work of mine (the big head and the smaller head--a candle holder--next to it)....

Enjoy!

Gardening Again

Spring is returning triumphantly. The temperatures are rising, flowers are blooming, trees are budding, and I'm back in the garden once again. This year, Beth and I are starting a small community garden at our house, along with friends Joey and Cara. We'll be planting a huge plot this year, as our landlords have been kind enough to offer the use of the plot next door (which they own as well).

So far, we've only begun to prepare the land, and we've planted a bunch of seeds inside, which we will later transplant to the garden. Here's a basic idea of the sorts of things that we'll be growing this year:

Onion, Cucumbers (two types), Swiss Chard, Siberian Kale, Cantelope, Watermelon, Chile Peppers, Bell Peppers, Cilantro, Artichokes, Broccoli, Green Zebra Tomato, Yellow Pear Cherry Tomato, Turkish Eggplant...

There are a few other kinds of veggies we'll be doing, including corn, beans, and squash (the so called "three sisters", which together offer a more nutritious and better-growing combination than any of them alone could do). We'll also be planting some Mexican sunflowers, wildflowers, and a large herb garden.

Some pictures below of our work thus far:
